Hurrah! A 010 book has again won the gold medal in the international competition 'Schönste Bücher aus aller Welt´. The Vinex Atlas (designed by Joost Grootens) has been acknowledged as the world´s best designed book this year. What the jury said: 'An outstanding example of successful information-based graphics. The detailed information is clearly structured, precisely collated and in its design concept shows sure instinct right down to the last detail. Excellent design of complex contents which makes the reader eager to find out more.'

On Saturday 3 April 2009, the world´s best graduation projects in architecture, urbanism and landscape architecture will be awarded the Archiprix. From 26 March onward, these plans can be previewed in the Faculty of Architecture of the Universidad de la Republica Uruguay. Of course, the plans will also be published in a book (with a dvd).

Jan van Toorn´s work is highly appreciated not only at home but also abroad. An exhibition of his work is currently on show in Sheffield, and a monograph on his work, which was published last year, is available. Obviously an exhibition about Jan van Toorn doesn't merely show beautiful images but also aims to open up all kinds of issues.

Everybody is talking about Vinex, after the recent publication of the celebrated and prized Vinex Atlas. You too? Then it is worthwhile going to the exhibition of work by photographer Karel Maas. Fascinated by this unique spatial planning operation in the Netherlands, he photographed the largest of them all during several winters.

The drawings of the South African artist travelled from Delft via Berlin and Bamako (Mali) back to Johannesburg. His panoramic landscapes (up to 46.5 metres wide!) are on show in the Art Gallery of the University of Johannesburg.
