PARTY: 100 YEARS ACADEMIE VAN BOUWKUNST
Just a few more days and the Amsterdam Academie van Bouwkunst (Academy of Building) will celebrate its anniversary with large-scale festivities to which you are also invited:
- 3 October: alumni day with a book launch and an exhibition opening by Job Cohen, Mayor of Amsterdam, at 17.00
- 4 October: symposium and Party of the Century
- 5 October: excursions in Amsterdam. Be taken around by Cees Dam, Jord den Hollander, Ronald Hooft or Yttje Feddes.

DISCUSSION: THE CHINESE DREAM
The book The Chinese Dream is the basis of a full evening programme in V2_: three lectures that review current developments in China from an architectural, economic and social point of view, after which a panel consisting of the Crimson Architectural Historians Wouter Vanstiphout and Annuska Pronkhorst, and the TCD authors Adrian Hornsby, Neville Mars and Martijn de Waal will discuss the topics raised with the general public. On this same evening, Crimson will introduce their study on new cities.
You are also cordially invited to this event. Those who already have other plans can view the lectures either live or later at live.v2.nl.

010 AUTHORS IN VENICE
Venice is currently completely devoted to architecture. Work by various 010 authors can be seen at the architecture biennial (open until 23 November 2008):
- 2012 architects show their Superuse, the film, for which architecture lover and actor Brad Pitt supplied the voice-over. 010 published the book of the same name last year.
- Malkit Shoshan can be viewed in the Italian pavilion with FAST (the Foundation for Achieving Seamless Territory). Malkit is the compiler of the Atlas of the Conflict. Israel-Palestine, about which you can read more in our coming October catalogue.
- Observatorium, with its submission entitled Pausa, will participate in the Experimental Architecture exhibition. You can also read more about its book, Time in Design, in our forthcoming catalogue.
- Been and gone: the book launch of The Model and its Architecture (volume 4 of the Delft School of Design Series on Architecture and Urbanism), and the presentation of the first copy of the Chairs book to Ronald Plasterk, Minister of Education, Culture and Science. Both events have already taken place.

PLUME: DE DIABOLISCHE SNELWEG (THE DIABOLICAL MOTORWAY)
On his departure from his function, State Advisor for Infrastructure Jan Brouwer issued Gouden Pluimen (Golden Plumes). The book De diabolische snelweg was one of the books he nominated. 010 Publishers congratulates authors Wim Nijenhuis and Wilfried van Winden with their nomination. On 16 October, we shall hear whether or not we will be able to place this Plume on our mantelshelf.
