| Compellingly designed, this year’s Archiprix shows tomorrow’s architects for the 25th time. Each year the best projects by students at Dutch educational institutions teaching architecture, urban design and landscape architecture are assessed by a panel of experts for the Archiprix competition. The number of urban design projects has never been so low and the number of landscape architecture projects never so high as on this occasion. The jury, Felix Claus, Stefan Gall, Berdie Olthof, Vincent van Rossem and Carel Weeber, was unanimous in its verdict that three plans clearly stood out from the rest. The second and third prizes were won by Robert Verrijt and Ronald Rietveld. The first prize was awarded to Mark van Beest whose proposal to redevelop a quarry of a former sand-lime brick factory was thoroughly off-beat and a marvel of creativity. |
