| Between 1994 and 1997 photographer Kim Zwarts made 148 photographs of Maastricht, the Netherlands. He chose the 148 locations by spreading a grid over a map of Maastricht and vicinity. The 148 points that were photographed result in an almost abstract image of the city. These beautifully serene photographs can be divided into three groups of images: panoramas, intimate nature and suburban landscape. The horizon is almost always perfectly situated on the centre line, with telephone lines, banks and street edges running parallel with it. A tree trunk, a lamp-post or a flagpole marks the central axis and divides the image. | ||
| Tussen 1994 en 1997 maakte fotograaf Kim Zwarts 148 foto’s van Maastricht. Hij bepaalde de 148 locaties door een raster op een plattegrond van de stad en haar omgeving te projecteren. Door het fotograferen van de 148 snijpunten is een bijna abstracte verbeelding van ’het andere’ Maastricht ontstaan. Zwarts legde drie soorten beelden vast: vergezichten, natuurbinnenzichten en suburbane landschappen. De horizon staat steeds nagenoeg perfect op de middenlijn, eraan parallel lopen telefoondraden, oevers en wegen. Een boomstam, lantaarnpaal of vlaggenstok vormt de middenas en verdeelt het beeld. | ||
