| In 1989 Wiel Arets won the Rotterdam-Maaskant Prize for Young Architects. The verdict of the jury is still entirely applicable: ’All aspects of his designs, especially his idealistic handling of the programme, and the resulting spatial structure, attest to a high standard of application to which the plan’s realization does every justice.’ This monograph documents realized work, with special attention to recent projects such as the offices for the AZL pension fund in Heerlen, the police station in Vaals, the Céramique offices in Maastricht, the residential tower block on KNSM island in Amsterdam and apartment complexes in Tilburg and Maastricht. |

Het oordeel van de jury is nog onverdeeld van toepassing: ’Uit alle aspecten van zijn ontwerpen, vooral de ideële verwerking van een programma en de hieruit ontwikkelde ruimtelijke structuur, spreekt een inzet van hoog niveau die in de uitvoering volledig tot zijn recht komt.’ In deze monografie wordt gerealiseerd werk gedocumenteerd met veel aandacht voor recente projecten als het kantoor voor het AZL-pensioenfonds in Heerlen, het politiebureau in Vaals, het Céramique-kantoor in Maastricht, de woontoren op het KNSM-eiland in Amsterdam en appartementencomplexen in Tilburg en Maastricht. |
